WHAT IS YOUR COVID PROTOCOL?

I take Covid very seriously. I want to protect your family and mine. I am vaccinated and received my booster, as is every member of my family. I have a high grade HEPA filter machine running in my studio during sessions. All props and fabrics are sanitized or washed between sessions. I typically don't do more than 1 session per day and often not more than a couple per week to give the space time to air out. I wash my hands frequently and use hand sanitizer often. I ask that all adults wear a mask when not being photographed, and I have access to home antigen tests to take before each session to ensure I am healthy. But it isn't just about COVID, there are many illnesses that can affect babies and their families. So I will continue to wear a mask and protect my tiny clients at all times.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO PHOTOGRAPH A NEWBORN?

Newborn photos are best done between 5 and 14 days after birth. But I am happy to photograph babies up to 7 weeks old, and I make exceptions especially for premie babies. After 7 weeks, it is best to schedule a 3 month milestone Smiley session to capture that next stage in baby's development.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE MATERNITY PHOTOS?

Maternity photos are best done around 32-34 weeks gestation. Later is still possible, and I love to do baby announcements early on in the pregnancy as well, but most moms find they are still showing yet still comfortable around 32-34 weeks.

WHERE IS YOUR STUDIO LOCATED?

I am located in San Jose in the Cambrian area near the Camden exit off of highway 85. It is very easy to get to and convenient from most freeways.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

It depends on what color backdrop you are interested in. Typically darker backdrops are better with darker outfits and white or lighter color backdrops look great with light colored clothing. I have several white dresses for moms and siblings in my client closet. Please let me know if you might be interested, and I'm happy to share them with you in preparation for the session. You can read more about this in my blog post.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO MY NEWBORN SESSION?

I have baby covered! Just bring small mostly white diapers, wipes, and anything you need to feed your baby. Baby will likely have multiple feeds in the studio. Siblings may need bribes or treats. In case baby spits up or pees during a photo, I recommend an extra set of clothes for everyone.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY NEWBORN SESSION?

Book early to make sure you get your spot. Often my clients book during the beginning of the 2nd trimester. But I sometimes have an open spot, so do inquire even if baby has already arrived, and you have only just now considered newborn photos.

HOW LONG DOES A NEWBORN SESSION TAKE?

Newborn sessions typically take 2-3 hours. It all depends on baby and any siblings involved. If baby needs lots of calming and feeds, it could take longer. It is important to me that everyone is comfortable and all baby's needs are met. I do not rush, push, or force a shot. We move at baby's pace.
